Have you ever wished that you could be transported back in time? Tourists in Japan can now become time travelers in this museum composed of old establishments.
Located in Koganei City, the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is about seven hectares of relocated and reconstructed historical buildings. Most of the buildings are from the Meiji Period, which was from 1868 to 1912. The museum is home to not just residential houses, but also public bathhouses, and business establishments. It is known that Hayao Miyazaki often visited the museum while creating his award-winning film, Spirited Away.
It's truly a blast from the past.
