Located at the foot of Mount Misen, in Itsukushima, Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, the Daisho-in Temple is dedicated to Shingon Buddhism. Kobo Daishi, the founder of this sect of Buddhism, was said to first practicing and teaching the sect here in the island, which is also known as the Miyajima Island.
One of the attractions of the temple is the sand mandala created by Tibetan monks who visited the area one time. Another important attraction is the cave which bear 88 images depicting the important events of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a practice involving the temples associated with Kukai, a Buddhist monk.
