One of Japan's top trees, the Daigozakura is said to be 1000 years old. Sitting atop a hill with a height of 18 meters, the Daigozakura overlooks the landscape and mountains of Okayama. The walk to the tree is a scenery of itself but the crown jewel of the whole trip is the cherry tree with blossoms of the edohigan variety. This ancient tree also carries an ancient legend behind it. In the 12th century, Emperor Go-Daigo Tenno praised this tree for its enchanting beauty which is how it got its name. It gathers over a thousand visitors in the months of its full bloom.
From the landscape to the culture to the cherry pink flowers, the Daigozakura is definitely a postcard-worthy tree.
