Shuri Castle, a revered UNESCO heritage site, was recently burned down and was deemed caused by a faulty power line. Shuri castle is a symbol of Okinawa that has been standing for 600 years. Behind the dismal situation of the castle, the good news is, the castle will be rebuilt through a crowdfunding drive. Recently, the crowdfunding was able to raise 250 million yen donated by more than 18, 000 people. The Naha Municipality started the crowdsourcing campaign in Friday. Likewise, the Japanese government vowed to rebuild the burnt castle. Crowdfunding is an online donation drive used to raise money or funds through donations. The Shuri Castle is one of the world's heritage sites lost to flames after the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
