The Todaiji Temple or the Great Eastern Temple is one of Japan's most famous temples. The temple was built in 752 and is now considered as a historically significant temple.
Todaiji is not only home to Japan's rich history and culture but also to Sika Deers. Sika Deers can be found roaming around the wooden gate of the Todai-ji Buddhist temple. You might encounter a hungry deer that will be begging you for food. Don't worry, special crackers for deer are sold for around 150 yen.
The place may be reached by bus from Kintetsu Nara Station or JR Nara Station. Take the bus going to Todaiji Daibutsuden and take a 5-10 minute walk to the temple.
