Tokyo may seem to the world to be a complete urban jungle, but within the busy streets of the city is a place where culture still thrives.
Asakusa is a district not only known for its temples. It is also the venue for the yearly Asakusa Samba Carnival, a reflection of Japan's relationship with Brazil, the event is actually a performance competition among 18 teams. They all vie for the ultimate samba title, with all their glorious samba floats, drums, and dancers. The carnival is famous for all the feathered accessories of the dancers, which seem to be "bigger" than what they wear. This happens around late August.
