The Great Buddha of Kamakura is one of the interesting historical landmarks of Japan, a gigantic bronze statue dating back as far as 1252 that still has remains of gold around its ear from its ancient gliding. It is considered the second largest monumental Buddha in Japan that weighs approximately 121 tons and reaching a height of 13.35 meters.
This gigantic statue is located on the grounds of Kotoku-in temple in the city of Kamakura. Visitors can go inside the sacred monument where the statue lies for 20 yen as a small donation.
