Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who had her breakthrough in 1965 when she produced the Infinity Mirror Room. The Infinity Mirror Room was a collection of mirrors sewn side by side to create a chamber of mirrors. Aside from the reflection upon reflection, the room was also decorated with multicolored flashing LED lights creating a kaleidoscopic color space. It is a particularly unique experience because the visitor becomes the subject of her work.
The waitlist for viewings can be quite long because the installation has extremely limited capacity. It can only accommodate one visitor per minute. The digital queue for the installation usually fills within the first two hours of the museum opening. Yayoi Kusama is currently on a North American tour where the mirror room will be featured.
