This video shows the traditional Ryukyu dancing performance as part of the Zamami Village Fan Appreciation Month held every November of the Year. Also known as Ryukyu Buyo and Okinawan Dance, the traditional dance was originally developed during the period of the Ryukyu Kingdom, or between the 15th and 19th centuries. The dances were divided into three basic genres: Classical (or Court) dance, Zo dance and Folk dance.
Zamami village is located in Shimajiri District in Okinawa Prefecture. Known for may coral-sand beaches, the village comprised of 20 small islands, with four of them are called principal islands, namely: Zamami, Aka, Geruma, and Fukaji.
