Girls and boys participate in a toh-shiya (archery contest), takes place at Sanjusangen-do, a Buddhist temple in Higashiyama District, Kyoto, Japan.
Usually, toh-shiya or archery contest in Sanjusangen-do usually takes place during the New Year's day. Around 2,000 archers take part in the competition, as well as twenty-year-old men and women who enter the contest to celebrate their entering adulthood.
This has been a tradition that has been started in 1606. And it was during these eras where the competition are extreme.
