In Saitama, Japan, there is a festival wherein its participants are praying for good harvest and hunting, and its highlight was a shooting festival.
In this video, Teppo Matsuri, also known as the rifle shooting festival, is held at Iida Hachiman Shrine in Ogano, Saitama. It has a Shinto ritual called Otachi Shinji, where people shoot guns (old and new) into the air as people and horses, charging towards the shine run between them. It The festival also features Kagura (a sacred Shinto dance), and Kabuki (traditional Japanese theater).
Teppo Matsuri started during the Edo Period.
