Asian martial arts have created their own name, even their own distinctive category in the world of fighting. And Japan would not be left behind in terms of traditional techniques.
Tenshin Ryu was founded by Yahei Tokizawa during the Edo period, mostly for the protection of the Tokugawa shogunate. The approach was said to be one of the schools of Hyouho or comprehensive martial arts of the time. Tenshin Ryu has a number of techniques under its name. The kenjutsu is the particular art of the sword. Battojutsu is the skilled technique of drawing the sword. The way of the spear is called the sojutsu. Naginatajutsu is for the art of the glaive while kusarigamajutsu focuses on the chain sickle. Tesajutsu is for the chain while the weaponless individuals are given a chance to master the yawara.
This video shows teaches us traditional battojutsu, what seemed to be the technique of Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin.
