Visitors from all over the world were impressed with the Japanese people, who despite the massive 9.0 earthquake, still managed to live one of their traditions by commemorating the Takayama Spring Festival, the annual festival that usually takes place at Takayama City's Hie Jinja Shrine (also known as Sanno-sama), the deity if the southern half of the old castle town.

Takayama Spring Festival, also known as Sanno Festival, is one of the two major festivals of Takayama City, Japan. The other takes place during autumn and is called Hachiman Festival.
