Takayama Autumn Festival is ranked as one of Japan's most beautiful festivals. It's held in the Takayama town north.
It features events such as fluvial parade and Mikoshi (mini and portable shrines). Events include:
(October 9-10, 9:00-16:00) - Festival float displays
(October 9 - 12:00 - 14:00) (October 10 - 11:00-13:00) - Karakuri performance such as the Mechanical dolls or Karakuri Ningyo that adorn the fluvial parade.
(October 9, 13:00) (October 10: procession returns at 16:30) - Mikoshi procession that features Mikoshi shrines
(October 9: 18:00 to 21:00) - Evening festival that constitutes festival floats paraded throughout Takayama streets.
