Watch the video to know more about the Taiko Group in Reno, Nevada.
The Taiko, literally ‘fat drum’, is a traditional Japanese percussion instrument used in religious rituals, as well as festivals.
The only Taiko group in Reno was born in 1997, as a small gathering of people interested in the Japanese culture. Twenty (20) years later, the Reno Taiko group has grown as more and more people became interested and is now a community for people with a passion for music.
The Reno Taiko Tsurunokai was formed by Reiko Shimbo, a teacher at the Mountain View Montessori School, where the practice is held every Monday at 7PM.
