Being the Land of the Rising Sun, the star of the Solar System has ever since become a main subject of ancient artists from Japan. Being an archipelago, the sea has also become another favorite theme.

This painting was entitled, "Sunrise Over the Eastern Sea." This masterpiece has been created by Fujishima Takeji, one of the painters who specialized in the traditional Yoga Art Movement of the late 19th to early 20th century Japanese painting. 

Art enthusiasts may see a tinge of the techniques of the French Impressionist art movement in this painting. This is because in 1905, Takeji went to France and has acquired the knowledge of the craft.
