Shinto is a religion that can be said to have originated in the Land of the Rising Sun. It has been a Japanese ethnic religion which is still practiced until today. Because of this, the traditional Shinto wedding ceremonies has also been catching the attention of culture enthusiasts around the globe.
These Shinto weddings are done in the main buildings of temples or shrines. As part of the ceremony, the couple is "purified" by a priests, in order to show the gods or the kamisamas their purest intention of love. After being proclaimed as husband and wife, the couple perform the sansankudo or the traditional wedding drinking of sake.
