The shinju-kyo is a traditional Japanese round bronze mirror. Originating from China, the mirrors often had designs from characters depicted in Chinese mythology, such as gods, animals and legendary beings. During the Han Dynasty in China, which was from the first to the sixth centuries, the Chinese bronze casting practice had been a widespread craft in the said country. Also during that time, the technology has been brought to Japan. The Records of Wei was said to the be the first historically made bronze mirror in Japan. Its design include ralations between Queen Himiko of Japan and the Wei court of China.
