Ukiyo-e is the traditional Japanese woodblock printing, which has spanned since the 17th century. And when we talk about woodblock printing in the history of Japan, one of the names that come into mind is Hokusai.
This artwork is entitled Red Fuji, made by the world-renowned Japanese ukiyo-e printer, Hokusai. This painting is said to be Hokusai's rendition of the Japanese icon, Mt. Fuji, during a lovely autumn afternoon, when all the leaves are red. Together with the rising or the setting of the sun, it had always turned the revered mountain into a royal and majestic image of scarlet.
