“She paints her face to hide her face, her eyes a deep water; it is not for Geisha to want, it is not for Geisha to feel; Geisha is an artist of the floating world.”
Geisha, literally ‘performing artist’, are traditional Japanese entertainers. They are also known as the Geiko, another name associated for them, which means 'Woman of Art.' The Geisha performs various arts to entertain customers. Traditionally, customers were male but nowadays, they also serve female customers. They have a wide variety of skills, which include music and dance, as well as games and conversation.
