As part of the celebration of Japan's "golden week," carp streamers were made and placed at the top of every roof and be flown in order to honor Kodomo no Hi, a calendrical event-turned national holiday known as "Children's Day."
Koinobori are carp-shaped wind socks traditionally raised like flags and flown. These wind socks are either made out of paper, cloth, or other nonwoven fabric.
This custom has been a usual sighting during May 5, the last day of the golden week, which are allotted for every young boy and girl of Japan, honoring them for a good future ahead and hope that they will grow up healthy and strong.
