Kendo is a modern Japanese martial arts. It descended from the traditional swordsmanship or kenjutsu, and it uses a bamboo sword called shinai.
Kendo is now being practiced all over Japan and in other countries. People who practice kendo are called kendoka, which means "someone who practice kendo". Some call them kenshi, meaning swordsman.
The work, Concept and Purpose of Kendo, was published in 1975 when the AJFK or the All Japan Kendo Federation was developed. The concept of kendo is "a way to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana."
