Kappa: A Water Demon from Japanese Folklore and Mythology

Kappa is a type of Yokai or ghost. It's often depicted in folklore, mangas, and anime. Children in Japan are warned not to swim too close at the lake because of the risks of being snatched or dragged by a Kappa. Kappas appear as a hybrid of a monkey and a turtle while other literature portray the monster with other monstrous appearance.
