Jodo is a Japanese martial art that uses a wooden staff called "jo." The jo is 128cm long and 2.4cm in diameter. This kind of martial arts is quiet, similar to bojutsu.
Jodo originated in feudal Japan. This is used as a self-defense technique for attackers, with or without sword. One can practice jodo alone, or with a partner who is armed with a bokken or a wooden sword.
Today, the modern study of Jodo has two branches: the koryu or the old school jodo, and the other branch is called Seitei Jodo, which is now being practiced by All Japan Kendo Federation.
