Inakadate, a Japanese village located in Aomori prefecture near Sapporo, celebrates a yearly festival or rice paddy art. The villagers began the rice paddy murals and art to honor the 2000 years old history of growing rice.

The villagers aim of making the rice paddy art is to take give more people an opportunity to learn more about agriculture and farming and also cultivate an awareness of the manual cultivation of rice.
