Summer in Japan is not just about fireworks, kakigori, the suikawari or matsuri or festival dancing. There are also those cute and soothing little summer chimes called fuurin.
These colorful glass, sometimes metal, semi-globes contain a light stub inside, sometimes made of wood or plastic. These stubs create the sound when the wind blows on them, as the stubs touch the walls of the glass or the metal. Being a summer item, they usually come in different bright and lively colors, to coincide with the overall atmosphere of the season.
