Just like a national costume, each country also seem to have a national doll, which represents the culture and tradition of the country.

The kokeshi are the traditional wooden dolls, which originated from the northern part of Japan. The kokeshi dolls are highly distinguishable from any national doll because of their cylindrical and mainly simple trunk and their seemingly enlarged head. The head is then painted with a face, with eyes resembling a Japanese woman. The body is then designed with more bright colors like red and yellow, with the shape of flowers and other design forms from nature.
