Chigiri-e is the Japanese art of using torn colored papers to resemble a watercolor painting.
The primary technique is to tear pieces of paper with varied colors, and to put them together to form an image somehow similar to a watercolor painting.
The said art technique dated back to 794 A.D. to 1185, or what is known as the Heaian Period in the Japanese history. The technique was also said to be used in conjunction with poem caliigraphy during the time.
This artwork is made by a Japanese artist, Misako Otori.
