More popularly known in the West as the capture-the-flag game, the Japanese bo-taoshi is a traditional game usually played in sports festivals in schools.
The main goal of the said game is to put down the flag of the opposing team, which is normally perpendicular to the ground. The opposing team should be able to bend the flag into a thirty-degree angle to win.
The bo-taoshi game played at the National Defense Academy of Japan (NDAJ) has been very popular because the school has transformed the traditional game into a massive scale. The total number of players is 150, with each team, the attackers and the defenders, having 75 each.
