Art and technology converged in this Printed Zoetrope made by media artist Akinori Goto. He made Toki, a 3-dimensional sculpture that left everyone in awe.
How is this made possible? The stop-motion animator added modern elements of 3D printing to the animation device that is known for producing the illusion of motion. He creates smooth movements by passing simple light through the rotating sculpture that was made of highly complex wires.
Aside from walk, Goto also made a new piece – a dancing version of this zoetrope called Ballet, which was presented at the Spiral Independent Creators Festival in Tokyo held last May 2016. The 3D scuplture earned him the Audience Award and the Runner-up Grand Prix. The media artist is also set to exhibit his works at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) this year.
