Japan has been leading the field of robotics since the 1970s, and one of their prized inventions is the android robot. The android is a robot designed to look and act like a human. It is also called a humanoid robot or synthetic organism.

The process of creating an android begins with the formation of a mold or cast. Hours of detailing and craftsmanship are given to achieve a more realistic appearance. Human movement and expression are achieved by using silicon to mimic the human skin, and a mechanization called "artificial muscles" to mimic movement.

There has been numerous developments on the android robot since its beginnings with the WABOT project in 1967. The latest Japanese android is the Android U which is a fully autonomous conversational robot. It can understand inquiries and can even read comments online.
