Sharp launched the “world’s first” 8K TV, the LC-70X500. The Aquos boasts of its 70-inch dynamic highlight display, LED backlight, 4 HDMI ports, ultra-high-definition 7680x4320 resolution, 79% of the Rec.2020 colour space, and crowned with an 8K LCD panel with HDR support. It reproduces images with ultra-fine details as it has 4 times as many pixels as 4K and 16 times the resolution of 1080p HD, and provides a cinema-like sound system due to its surround sound, Yamaha Audio Engine, and DTS 2.0 technology.
The 42.5 kg TV uses aviation-grade aluminum alloy for the frames, lower bar, and base as well as surface brushing and mirror polishing, has built-in SoundBar with 3 groups of speakers and 2 groups of woofer speakers, and is installed with 4 high-power speakers with optimal back bass sound and sonic vibration eliminating design.
The new model is not Sharp’s first 8K product, but it is the first 8K TV to be launched for consumer-use. Sharp aims to complement its 8K TVs by developing a full 8K ecosystem.
Sharp is releasing the Aquos 8K TV in China and Japan, and will release it in Taiwan this February and Europe in March.
