Tokyo City airport will have at least 11 robots to lease in helping them for certain purposes such as cleaning the facilities and carrying baggage.
The airport operator leased the robots from Cyberdyne, Inc. and they looked similar to wet-dry vacuums or motorized stool. Authorities said if the robots work well in the airport, there is a chance wherein more airports around the country may also begin to use them.
The announcement came after Japan’s Cabinet’s Tuesday approval of the government’s revamped Japan Revitalization Strategy, which includes support for robot research and development.
