In Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, a robot designed to not only recognize human emotions but react with simulations of anger, joy, and irritation was unveiled by technology company Softbank on June 18, 2015. The robot is named Pepper.
Known as a robot with 'a heart,' Pepper uses an "emotional engine" and has a cloud-based artificial intelligence system that allows it to analyze people's body gestures, facial expressions, and voice tones.
Softbank initially announced Pepper to be going on sale months after being formally introdudced to the public.
