During a morning or early afternoon snacks, you'll definitely want to sip a cup of coffee to fight against drowsiness or simply need to add extra energy boost. But what if a barista (a coffee maker and server) is a robot in a Japanese coffee shop. One robotic barista took charge of making frappes, espresso and other coffee recipes in a cafe in one coffee shop in Japan. The robot can scan a QR code from the ticket to start serving coffee to people.
The AI controlled-robot starts by grabbing the paper, moving towards the coffee machine and pouring the espresso by pressing a machine. Named "Sawyer", the robot can make 5 coffees in one go. Each coffee served costs a modest price at 320 Yen or $3 that is the same or lower than some human-run coffee shop. The robot is semi-anthropomorphic or human-like in form because it features a flexible arm, a grip and an LCD screen that shows
a face.
