Robots playing soccer without any human intervention? It has long been possible and the organizers even say that these robots can eventually compete with human players by 2050.
The RoboCup is a world cup with the competing teams comprising of robots. The cup begain in 1997 at the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It has since been held every year in different locations across the globe. In its 20th year, the cup returned to Nagoya last July 27, 2017.
The event, which lasted until July 31, also featured other technological competitions like the industrial production and rescue missions.
