And Japan's Panasonic, is no exception and can literally say that the now multi-national company started in the industry of light bulb sockets. 

Panasonic is an electronics corporation that initially produced light bulb sockets in 1918. It was formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. 

Panasonic now offers an array of products such as washing machines, televisions and air conditioners. They also produce in-flight entertainment systems and broadcast equipment.

Panasonic Corporation’s headquarters is located in Osaka, Japan.
