Released in June 1996, the Nintendo 64 is the game console company's 64-bit central processing unit device. It made a mark in history because it was the company's last game gadget to employ the cartridge technology.
It garnered the title, Machine of the Year, by the Time magazine. It debuted with the game Super Mario 64. It was actually received well during its launch, however, also received negative feedback due to having just a few games.
Its primary competitor during the time was Sony's PlayStation and Sega's Saturn.
Another game that made a name in this console is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
