The virtual reality technology has always been associated with the VR headset, which makes the virtual world a "reality."
However, NHK, a Japanese television company, together with partner companies, are pushing for a headset-free VR experience. It will be using an 8K high-resolution video, projected on a screen with a hemisphere shape. Called the "Sphere 5.2," the screen will be 3.4 meters tall and 5.2 meters wide. In front of the screen are chairs that "move with the video," just like the 3D theaters in amusement parks. The screens are manufactured by Wonder Vision Techno Laboratory Co.
On this video, we will see how interactive the soon-to-be 8K VR experience will be, an encounter that may not be possible in "real" reality.
