Upon retirement as a banker, Masako Wakamiya bought a device that not all people her age will buy, a computer. She then enrolled in the "silver club," a computer club for seniors, upon being entirely overwhelmed the first time she was able to turn on her computer. It took her 3 months to assemble her first computer. She then learned different things in the club, including programming.

Upon learning that there are not so many apps for senior citizens, she decided to create her own. She called it Hinadan, a mobile game for iOS featuring Hinamatsuri or Japan's traditional Doll's Day festival.
