When cellular phones started dominating the world, there was just one phone style that captured the hearts of the Japanese people: the phenomenal flip phones.

And even the advent of the smartphone technology, when the new millennium entered, did not stop the people of the Land of the Rising Sun from patronizing these phones.

Thus, the dramas, movies and animes produced in the past few decades really show a lot of these flip phones.

In a survey done in 2015, it has been said that only 48.9 percent of all mobile users were on smartphones. This meant that almost half were still using the phenomenal phones.
