For the first time, a touchable hologram has been made by the Japanese scientists and researchers. Hologram is a 3D projection that resembles an object viewable from any angle. Scientists from the Utsunomiya University Center for Optical Research and Education used a femtosecond laser dubbed as 'Fairy lights' that can produce laser pulses that last from one millionth to one billionth per second. Dr Yoichi Ochiai from Tsukuba University said that the current situation of lights does not allow humans to touch and feel light as if it's a matter. He added that their touchable hologram allows people to touch or interact with the projected image.
A hologram is one of the tools used in science fiction stories and movies such as in the movies Avatar, Iron man, Star Wars and Star Trek. Those fictional holograms can show the location, map and the even the whole body of the person or an object. In the near future, holograms could supplement or replace videos and provide an effective and mesmerizing communication tool.
