The Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) introduced its cutting-edge surgery system called the Smart Cyber Operating Theater (SCOT) on June 16, 2016 at the Tokyo Woman's Medical University.
Initially designed for performing brain tumor surgery, SCOT comprised of 4K monitors, robotic arms, and MRI scanners. The integrated system aids surgeons to track a patient's condition in real-time by providing a display of information such as the grade of tumors and the level of nervous system damage in their computer monitor.
