Founded in 1946, when the war finally ended, engineer Tadao Kashio founded a company, with a name being a word play of his surname, that dealt with fabrication technology. During the time, Japan had been struggling economically, thus cigarettes had been valued highly. Because of this, Kashio invented the yubiwa pipe, a special finger ring that could hold the cigarette for the person, thus freeing the hands of the user. The product became a huge success. Using the money from yubiwa pipe sales, they dealt in the calculator technology. And the rest was history.
