Japan starts testing the Robo-store, a staffless store run by computers and cameras. At the Akabane station in Tokyo, an Artificial intelligence system can calculate the bill that shoppers will pay by using a Suica or Pasmo card. This cashier-less store is akin to Amazon's store in the US where shoppers use their smartphone to pay bills.
How does it work?
1. The customer will tap a Suica or Pasmo card at the entrance's reader. This opens the door automatically.
2. The customer will just pick up his/her items that are monitored by the cameras.
3. Before existing, the customer will see the exit screen that will show the total costs of the chosen items.
4. Upon agreeing to the total cost, the customer will tap again the card to deduct the items total cost from the card. This exit tapping will trigger the door and let the customer leave.
