Just in case your shopping trips weren’t exciting enough, Tokyo’s Mitsukoshi department store is bringing a new touch to your retail experience.

Meet Aiko Chihara, the humaoid developed by Toshiba who's been greeting everyone a welcome with a smile as they enter shopping premises. Aiko served as a receptionist of Mitsukoshi department store for two days, and since then became a tour guide on the store's seventh floor for two weeks.

The creators of Aiko hoped their invention could offer a cheeful help in giving directions boost the store's campaign.
