Sony has been a big player in the technological innovation race of Japan. In 1992, they released AIBO or the Artificial Intelligence Robot. The word has the same sound as the Japanese word aibo, meaning a "pal" or a "partner." AIBO was actually a series of robotic pets, made to accompany and give joy to anyone who would purchase it. Most of the designs were dogs, robots shaped as man's best friend but there wer also some lion cubs and space explorer pets.

After 14 years of giving love and assisting in robotic researches, Sony had decided to discontinue the production of AIBO.
