In 2020, in time for the Tokyo Olympics, KDDI, one of Japan's biggest telecommunication companies, will be offering the world, not a 3G connection nor a 4G but a 5G.
The 5G wirless technology boasts of giving a connection 100 times faster than any current network in the world. It promises speed of not just 1, 2 or 3 but 10 gigabits per second.

KDDI is also planning a partnership with Secom, a Japanese security company, in order to have better surveillance transmission through the use of 5G. They aim to deliver internet connection that is fast enought to deliver moving images of the highest quality, high enough for the police or security to identify a face of a person or a plate of a car.
