On the advent of the popular anime Yuri on Ice last year, it was said that Yuri Katsuki, the main character, is actually based in real-life figure skater, Yuzuru Hanyu.

Yuzuru Hanyu is an athlete who competes in the singles division. He is currently competing for the World Team Trophy happening at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. He has already won several awards including the 2014 Winter Olympics gold medal, two medals at the World Figure Skating Championships, four-time Grand Prix Final champion, three-time Four Continents silver medalist and other world and local Japanese skating sports events.
