Asahi-dake, which translates to Mount Asahi, is a mountain located at Higashikawa, Hokkaido and is known as the tallest mountain in Hokkaido. The mountain is a popular location during the summer as well as the winter. During the summer, hikers visit the small village called Asahidake Onsen and the aerial lift line called Asahidake Ropeway. When winter time comes, the mountain becomes a place for skiers and snowboarders. At the end of February, snowboarders named Christophe Schmidt, Fredrik Evensen and Shayne Pospisil, went to Asahi-dake to meet up with Masaomi Harada, a famous Japanese professional snowboarder and filmed their 7-day snowboarding escapade.
